Training - Complex Trauma

Complex trauma means that a person has experienced multiple events, rather than a singular traumatic event. Complex trauma comes in different shapes and forms, such as domestic abuse, ritual abuse, war, trafficking, and so on. Complex trauma can have a devastating impact on our sense of self, who we are, how we manage every day life. Our bodies tend to go to a consistent 'alert' and/or 'shut-down' stage. People can spend much, if not almost all of their time in survival states. And life, others, themselves, or their bodies may not feel safe anymore. In this training day we will briefly look at various types of complex trauma (e.g. identity trauma and trafficking). We will explore various perpetrator behaviours (such as DARVO), look at our startle - response and orientation - response. And we will explore a host of survival and creative resources, which can be…
