Training - Impact of Complex Trauma

Complex trauma, where a person has experienced multiple events (such as domestic abuse, ritual abuse, war, etc.), can have a devastating impact on our sense of self, who we are, how we manage every day life. Our bodies tend to go to a consistent 'alert' and/or 'shut-down' stage. People can spend much, if not almost all of their time in survival states. And life, others, themselves, or their bodies may not feel safe anymore. In this training day we will explore the function of guilt and shame in more depth, and the role it plays in survival. We will navigate the complex waters of trauma bonds, the impact of limerence, and how to work with power dynamics within the therapeutic relationship.

Practicalities

This training day can be taken as a one-off CPD, or as the second day of the Advanced Diploma in Complex Trauma.…
