About the event
Training - Somatic Ways of Working with Trauma (NCPS Quality Checked)
We need both top-down approaches (such as CBT) as well as bottom-up approaches (such as somatic work) in safe trauma therapy. Trauma often cannot be verbalised (easily), as trauma lives in the body. Working the body can be equally tricky, as the body may feel foreign, disconnected, or frightened for clients (and us as therapists!).
In this training we will explore a host of somatic complaints (such as headaches) and how they might relate to trauma.
We will also practice with various Somatic Techniques:
How to track the body
Verbalising some of the tracking that we have done with clients

Somatic Ways of Working - Lond
The body plays a big part in trauma, as trauma lives “in” the body. The body remembers what it has been through and therefore often experiences a wide variety of complaints, such as panic attacks or headaches. We will explore basic sensory connections and we will practice with several somatic skills, such as tracking and somatic resourcing, whilst discovering our own ‘body signature’.
